This article in the NY TIMES today is indicative of what was gained by the Israeli pullout of the Gaza Strip-nada, nothing, not a gotdam thing. The Palestinian president has neither control over the Hamas terrorists nor the balls and guts to disarm them.
One of Israel's most-wanted men, the Hamas military leader Muhammad Deif, issued a video on Saturday in which he warns the Palestinian Authority not to try to confiscate Hamas's weapons and promises Israelis that "all of Palestine will become a hell" for them.
The Hamas military leader, Muhammed Deif, will not settle for the Gaza Strip nor just the West Bank. I have long been an opponent of appeasement of any type with terrorists, socialists, the left wing of American politics, and anyone else that is hell bent on destroying liberty and freedom. There is no satisfying the Palestinian militants:
Mr. Abbas argues that negotiation and an end to the armed struggle is the best way to achieve an independent Palestinian state. He insists that the militants keep the truce and not give Israel any reason to attack them or torpedo any agreements.
But Mr. Deif's comments echo the Hamas claim that it is the "resistance" that has forced Israel to pull out of Gaza, primarily because of Hamas's rocket, mortar and suicide bombing attacks, and the Hamas insistence that the war must continue to free the West Bank, Jerusalem and, under the Hamas charter, all of British Mandate Palestine, including Israel.
If Abbas really wants peace he would combine forces with Sharon, ask Bush for help and wipe out the Hamas once and for all times. He knows who they are and he is protecting them by giving lip service to peace and hiding them from the Israelis. Sharon has made a very generous move to appease the Palestinians. Now it is up to them to contain the terrorists. If not I hope Sharon invokes the wrath of the Israeli deity in the form of napalm and machine guns on the Hamas villages. It is war-Hamas has declared war and should not expect anything now except war and all that goes along with it!
