Ginkgo - Thank You Kate

A couple of years ago Kate passed on to me a large piece of fabric from her stash with a Ginkgo pattern on it.
Those who know me, know I love these leaves. The fabric has been in my stash box of special fabrics waiting for the right project to be made.
Kate has always given me lots of encouragement with what ever I have been into, from travel to quilting to textiles, and I will forever be grateful to her.....Thank You.
I dusted off the machine, which had not been used in a good 12 months.
Next year I have booked into a Paper Making workshop with the Papermakers of Victoria and also Ballarat Fibre Arts week of classes.
I used Kate's fabric to make myself a new apron. My very old apron was from a craft showbag that I was given about 10 years ago. Time for a new apron, I cut out a pattern using it but made the length 15 inches longer and the width extra wide to wrap around my back.
Extra long ties that can either be tied at the back or wrapped around and tied at the front.
There was enough fabric (with some left over) to make it double sided and a pocket on the front.
It felt strange sitting at the machine after a long break.

I am going to give the eco dyeing a break for a while. I have run out of iron mordant, but John came home with some scrap pieces from work for me to make another batch.
Looks gruesome...will need to be soaking in white vinegar and water for a few weeks.
To try something different, I picked some vegetable leaves. I actually like the vase of them.
Prepared the boards with card stock.
Flat leaf parsley that has gone to seed
Tomato leaf. The dark spots are a sprinkling of tea from a tea bag. I don't think I would use the tea again and the vegetable leaves were worth a try.
A visit to Kyo in Ocean Grove for some paper for pages of a few books using the paper I bought in Tokyo.....and that was another week gone by.
